Brody's Ghost Rough vs Final by markcrilley Brody's Ghost Rough vs Final by markcrilley
It's always interesting to compare the rough version of a Brody's Ghost page with the final. Some people say they actually prefer the rough (which makes me wonder if I'm wasting my time adding all the detail and toning!).

Big thank you to anyone who supports me by getting my books!

This has become my favorite comic series, and when I do my manga, I try to use a similar art style. Because this just works really well!

OOO! I saw this in your book 'Mastering Manga!' It is AMAZING! It helped me more than any other book I've ever read on manga! I thank you for making it, master. :worship:

I love the rawness and energy that are in rough sketches, but the final product looks so cinematic and epic. Both are great, and I LOVE the all the detail that you put into your work. Thanks for sharing your talent!

This is awesome! Reminds me of an old Dutch story about a cunning fox. There were two versions of the story on each page. The old/middle Dutch on the first one and the normal Dutch version on the other to make the story clearer for the reader. I guess you did exactly the same but with drawings! :D

Thank you for making that book by the way. I owe my current ability to both it and your Youtube videos. :thanks:

I personally find it amazing to compare the Rough Draft vs a Final product. There are vast amounts of changes and for example, if you look at the rough, you would have no idea what to expect however, the final shows eveything.

Anto90 Featured By Owner Sep 26, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist

i think Masashi Kishimoto ( creator of Naruto ) do all work with computer - but probably not cuz he started doing manga in 1998 ( i think? ) and i don't think computers were good enough to add all those tones and besides... Tablets in 1998? :D

Hey Mr C hobbs here again. Going to be using some of your art in my college classes hope you don't mind :P I like this one the most as it shows how you went from a rough scetch into the final page. Showing the big jump looks really cool side by side.

i personally love rough sketches but maybe because of one of my favorite old school artists that is doing that now. =) but the final is also really nice. the detail and toning polishes it

This looks awesome. I like sketches sometimes too, so it's nice that you keep a scan or copy of the sketch. I really like how amazing everything looks when you finish it up though. All the tiniest details amaze me, especially because it shows how much effort you're willing to put into your work. So, I don't think you should feel that you're wasting your time. =] Great work on this. ^^
Customsonicfreak711 Featured By Owner Aug 4, 2012  Hobbyist Artist
they look very cute as rough sketches XD
MichaelaElse Featured By Owner Aug 4, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
It would be very helpful if you could make a video demonstrating how you do your toning as I have no idea on how to go about it after I've made my rough and final pages on paper.

If you could do this I would be grateful by recieving this much needed guidence.
