My first published books were the "Akiko" comics and prose-fiction novels, which came out in the late 90's and early 2000's. This illustration is from one of the later Random House novels, "Pieces of Gax."
I always liked the slightly "imbalanced" lay out of this one, with all the visual drama in the upper half and little other than air below.
Sadly this book is no longer in print, but the first book in the series, "Akiko on the Planet Smoo," is still available at Amazon:
mark you are the greatest!!! artist in the world me and my friend jalen love you and i never miss your videos can you email me a picture of brody and the ghost u rock!!!!
I actually have the first book, and I love the Akiko series. When I found out you made it Mark, I was surprised at first. You style have evolved so much since then. Gax always reminded me of data from Star Trek when I was a kid.
